Britnell welcomes $80 million in federal road funding

Member for South West Coast and Shadow Minister for Rural Roads Roma Britnell has welcomed $80 million in funding for the region’s roads from the Federal Liberal Nationals Government.

Mrs Britnell said it was a fantastic announcement from Member for Wannon Dan Tehan and showed the Liberal Nationals’ commitment to regional Victoria.

“This is a significant announcement for some of our key freight routes and key links into the Port of Portland,” Mrs Britnell said.

“I want to thank Dan for this investment, we’ve spoken many times about road funding in our region and he’s listened and acted, unlike the Andrews Labor Government.

“Daniel Andrews and Labor are quick to tell you they are investing in regional roads, but there’s been little improvement and what does get fixed only lasts a few weeks.

“Labor are overseeing a shambolic mess when it comes to road maintenance and repair – they have an expensive worst first policy, rather than being proactive and regularly maintaining the road network.

“It’s like waiting for your cars motor to stop before you do anything with it – it’s going to cost you more to repair than if you’d serviced it regularly.

“I call on the state Labor Government to match this significant investment from the Federal Government and get on and fix our roads properly.”
