The State Government has failed children and families in South West Victoria and left the job half done by not funding a new Warrnambool Special Developmental School, Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell says.
“I’m bitterly disappointed,” Mrs Britnell said.
“The school community is going to be left waiting for another 12 months. That’s at least another 12 months of cramped and overcrowded classrooms and safety risks for parents and children at school drop off and pick up.
“The government has let the school down, they have got the parents and students hopes up by buying a block of land and doing the planning works two years ago, but there hasn’t been anything since.
“They have only done half the job, with no indication of when the other half will be started, let alone finished.
“Daniel Andrews and Labor say they are putting people first, but that doesn’t seem to apply if you’re a school student with special needs in Warrnambool.”
Mrs Britnell said she would continue to work with the school community and fight for the new school to be funded now.
“The students, parents and dedicated teachers have waited long enough; a new Warrnambool Special Developmental School must be funded and built.”
