Record numbers of patients treated at Warrnambool Base Hospital once again justifies the Liberal’s $100 million commitment the stage two redevelopment, Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell says.
Mrs Britnell said the Labor Government has dragged its feet on making a full commitment to the project and as a result the hospital is under pressure.
She said former Premier Denis Napthine committed $100 million ahead of the 2014 election and Opposition Leader Matthew Guy re-affirmed the commitment in 2015.
“What we have seen from the hospital’s annual report is an extraordinary commitment by the hard working staff,” Mrs Britnell said.
“They are providing the best care to a record number of patients in facilities that are cramped and outdated.
“The Liberal party recognised these issues in 2014 and again in 2015 – but Labor has continued to drag its feet.
“It’s time to get on and do the work – this is the largest hospital in this part of the state with an ever increasing number of patients – but Labor has to be dragged kicking and screaming to make a full commitment.”
