More than 8000 people have signed a petition calling on the Andrews Labor Government to Fix our Roads.
The Fix Our Roads petition was tabled in State Parliament this morning with 8270 signatures and Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell said it sends a strong message to The Andrews Labor Government.
“8270 people have joined me in saying to the Labor Government that enough is enough, we want our roads fixed and we want them fixed properly,” Ms Britnell said.
“The petition sends a very strong message to the Government and if it’s ignored it will show that Daniel Andrews doesn’t care about the south-west, that we are less important that the rest of the state.
“There are pages and pages of names, all asking The Premier to act and to match the $140 Million the Federal Government has put on the table for our roads. If he ignores the petition he is ignoring the concerns of every single person who signed their name on that petition.”
Ms Britnell said she would also make sure Minister for Roads and Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford is aware of the petition.
“The Minister for Roads represents our region in the upper house. She has the power to do something to fix our roads, but in the year she has been in the job she has done very little,” Ms Britnell said.
“I’m not sure how she can look the people she represents in the eye knowing that they are being left to deal with dangerous roads while the government she is part of pours billions of dollars into the city.
“I hope that seeing pages and pages of names of people she represents will prompt her to act, to stand up to the Premier and say Western Victoria deserves it’s fair share.”
