Britnell’s Budget Wishlist

Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell MP has called on the Andrews Labor Government to prioritise funding for key infrastructure projects in the South West Coast region in the upcoming 2023 Victorian State Budget.

“The Lookout, the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club and our roads all need a massive injection of funds” Ms Britnell stated.

“Each of these projects will provide significant benefit to the South West Community and anyone who visits our region” Ms Britnell said.

“South West Coast is in dire need of a residential rehabilitation facility, and it is high time that the Andrews Labor Government funded ‘The Lookout’” Ms Britnell stated. “The case is concrete, and we are the only region in the state to not have a facility funded or providing services”.

“The Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club is an integral part of our community, and it deserves the support of the Andrews Labor Government. Funding for this facility will ensure that the Surf Club can continue to provide life-saving services to our community” Ms Britnell said.

“Under the Labor Government for the last two decades, regional areas like South West Coast have had their infrastructure needs forgotten. Our sporting grounds need redevelopment, investment in public housing is failing to keep up with demand and our outdoor recreation facilities all need improvements which the Government must address, but I am focused on these three main critical needs which Labor have disregarded” Ms Britnell continued.

In addition to these important projects, Ms Britnell called on the Government to allocate adequate funding for regional roads in the South West Coast region, which have witnessed years of insufficient funding.

“Our roads are in a state of disrepair, and it’s time for the Andrews Labor Government to recognise the importance of investing in this critical infrastructure. Adequate funding for regional roads will make our communities safer” Ms Britnell stated.

Ms Britnell has urged the Andrews Labor Government to listen to the needs of the South West Coast community and prioritise these key projects in the upcoming 2023 Victorian State Budget.

“I call on the Andrews Labor Government to prioritise the needs of our community and provide the funding required to deliver these critical projects. We need action and we need it now” Ms Britnell said.
