Budget 2017: Britnell welcomes Great South Coast Food and Fibre Plan funding

News that the Great South Coast Regional Food and Fibre plan has been listed as a priority project for funding from $29 million state wide fund has been welcomed by Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell.

Mrs Britnell was a founding member of the working group formed to develop the plan and has remained involved since her election as Member for South West Coast

The plan aims to drive an increase in the output and value of the region’s existing and new food and fibre businesses, improving whole of region productivity, sustainability and prosperity.

“I congratulate the hard working farmers and community who worked towards getting this plan funded,” Mrs Britnell said.

“This is a project that has been close to my heart for a long time and I have met with Agriculture Minster Jaala Pulford to discuss this plan several times since being elected to parliament.

“Basil Ryan has worked hard to ensure the plan didn’t just remain on the shelf gathering dust. Being the local member has helped me carry the business case directly to the Minister.

“This is a real win. Now we can get on and implement the plan.”

Mrs Britnell said the fund would also be used to fund tourism infrastructure upgrades in the Great South Coast region that had been highlighted by the Great South Coast Regional Partnership stakeholder forums.
