Crime in Warrnambool continues to rise under Daniel Andrews

Warrnambool’s crime rate has skyrocketed since Daniel Andrews election as Premier, Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell says.

New figures from the Crime Statistics Agency released today show crime in the Warrnambool City Council is up 44.14 per cent increase since December 2014.

The figures also show a rise of 14 per cent over the past year, with sexual offences increasing 56.3 per cent, assaults up 21 per cent and Burglary/break and enter up 47.6 per cent.

Mrs Britnell said the 44.14 percent increase since the 2014 election makes Warrnambool one of Victoria’s crime hotspots.

“Our police need support to ensure they are able to continuing doing the important work they are so committed to – despite their extraordinary efforts these figures show the workload is increasing,” Mrs Britnell said.

“The Premier and Police Minister Lisa Neville need to ensure there are enough boots on the ground in the Warrnambool area to help combat these increasing crime rates.

“We also need to have a concentrated effort to decrease reoffending, we need to address the reason these people commit crimes as well as making sure there are tough consequences for actions.”
