Food and Fibre funding a win for hard working committee

Funding for the Great South Coast Food and Fibre Plan is a triumph for the people who have worked hard on the concept over the past five years, Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell said.

It was today announced the plan, which aims to promote and strengthen the regions food and fibre producers, has been give $500,000 in state funding.

Mrs Britnell said the announcement is down to the hard work of the committee alone.

“People like Basil Ryan and Georgina Gubbins, other farmers and committee members have worked hard to develop this plan over the past five years and have advocated strongly,” she said.

“Others will try and take the credit for this, but it’s down to the hard work of the committee.”

Mrs Britnell said the Food and Fibre Plan was a passion of hers, having been a founding member of the steering committee before she was elected to state parliament.

Since her election she has kept in close contact with the committee members and has advocated for the plan with the Minister for Agriculture.
