Our most vulnerable children are now at risk.

Our most vulnerable children should not be paying the price for the financial mismanagement of Daniel Andrews.

Roma Britnell MP, Member for South West Coast has slammed the decision of the Andrews Labor Government to axe specialised teachers working for the state’s Department of Education.
These significant staff cuts came just days after the Victorian Government said none of the staff facing redundancies in the Education Department will be front line staff.
“The Andrews Labor Government has lied to frontline teachers, who support thousands of students in Victoria with acute needs such as hearing, visual and physical impairments and some even with life-threatening illnesses, such as cancer”.
“I was horrified to learn about the decision of the Andrews Labor Government to axe the 85 jobs from regional centres who support so many of our vulnerable children with mental and physical disabilities, it’s another broken promise and the results of this unconscionable decision will be felt widely”.
“Regional Victoria is already lagging behind in terms of funding and services available to vulnerable young people, this is yet another blow to young regional Victorians by this Melbourne centric government”.
“This is despite the Minister knowing full well of our struggles in regional Victoria to fill already existing educational support positions. I have raised these issues in Parliament and spoken to the Minister directly about them, but this Governments solution to the problem seems to be cutting even more regional services”.
“I am calling on Daniel Andrews to immediately, unconditionally and categorically rule out any cuts to our frontline teaching staff. Making sure every effort is made for the education and development of our youth is an absolute priority for me, I will not stop calling out the double standards of this government until every Victorian child and their parents are confident of the education and support services available to them”.
