SA Border to re-open in time for Christmas

Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell has welcomed news the South Australian Border will re-open to Victorians from December 1.

Ms Britnell said the closure had a huge impact on people living in her electorate who had been separated from loved ones living in South Australia because of the closure.

“The border closure has been one of the biggest issues my team and I have been dealing with during the second-wave of the pandemic,” she said.

“I’m very pleased there is light at the end of the tunnel for people who have been impacted by this closure.

“I’m sure it will be a very happy Christmas for families who were separated, and it will be a welcome return to normal business for Victorians who also offer services into South Australia.”

Ms Britnell said during the course of the closure she had spoken with SA Premier Steven Marshall a number of times and had worked closely with the Victorian cross-border commissioner to ensure critical industries could continue to operate and to assist people obtain permits to cross into South Australia.
