State Budget 2019: Labor ignores Portland and Heywood

Daniel Andrews’ fifth state budget once again proves the further west you live, the less he cares about you.

Today’s state budget delivers nothing for Portland or Heywood – but then that’s not a surprise considering the Labor Party failed to make any election commitments in the region.

I on the other hand pledged to deliver funding for the Portland Foreshore masterplan, money for a marketing plan to promote the amazing Great South West Walk, lighting for Hanlon Park, funding to explore more opportunities to use rail to move freight and a $1 billion package to address the regions worst roads.

Labor failed to match my commitments and have continued to snub the west of the state in today’s budget.

The Portland and Heywood region offers so much to our state in term of economic prosperity, the region’s agriculture sector and plantation timber industry provide massive boosts to state coffers.

But once again Daniel Andrews is happy to reap the benefits from pour region, but provides nothing in return.

The people of Portland and Heywood deserve a government that recognises their enormous contribution to the state and provides them with investments to help the region grow and continue to prosper.
